MINISTERIAL OFFICE

  • Took oath of office as Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Government Pakistan 1965-1969. He resigned on 21st of March, 1969 from the office due to impending decision of imposing Martial Law.

  • Remained Deputy Leader of the House in National Assembly of Pakistan 1965-69.

  • Represented Pakistan in United Nations Security Council during the war of 1965 and presented successfully the cause of Jammu and Kashmir obtaining a resolution for both the countries (India and Pakistan) to find solution for the core dispute through a plebiscite for Jammu and Kashmir.

  • Held additional charge of Foreign Affairs ministry 1966.

  • Led a delegation of Parliamentarians of Pakistan to USA for a period of one-month September-October, 1967.

  • Attended various conferences such as Law Ministers’ Conference in Australia and Commonwealth Conference in London and delegation to Sri Lanka in Islamic Conference celebrating hundredth anniversary of Quran.

  • Elected Vice-Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for the year 1968-89.

  • Member of Round Table Conference called by Field Martial Ayub which resulted into an agreement between the Government and the political parties except PPP wherein it was decided to convert 1962 Presidential Constitution into Parliamentary form and to introduce adult franchise.
